The last attack by Boko Haram in the Afadé and Blame villages in the Borough of Makary began on Saturday, August 15.

According to the newspaper l’œil du Sahel in its Thursday, August 20, 2015 edition, after the recent incursions of the terrorist group, the populations of these two villages were devoted in a long exodus towards the Interior of the country.

To them, the attacks from the armed sect does not justify this migration. “After the last attack at Affade, on August 15, 2015, some soldiers were surprised that there had been no recorded deaths among the inhabitants and began to suspect us of being in cahoots with these terrorists. They said that next time; they will know what to do. We preferred to leave. However, like everyone else, we paid a heavy price to these barbarians. We have already buried many of our sons who fell under their bombs at Fotokol, Sigal or at Boulfo ', reinforced Mahamat an ex-inhabitant settled in Kousseri.

On the side of the army, they are defending themselves. An officer stationed in the area said "it is a sector where the Boko Haram activity has a significant increase. We called on the residents to be more than vigilant because it is clear that the sect is well infiltrated in this town. It has never been an intention to threaten the populations where as our mission is to provide security. If we are not on good terms with our brothers and sisters, how can we win the battle?”

The administrative authorities reacted immediately after the massive evacuation of the 7 745 inhabitants of the Afade and Blame villages. "On August 19, 2015, the Sous - Prefect of Makary went to Afadé to dissuade the last inhabitants from leaving and urged those who had already left to return home. But, according to the newspaper "prerequisites for them to return were not met”.

The people pointed an accusing finger at the head of Afade village who, according to them, was an accomplice of the Boko Haram sect. "Our problem is our village head, Meali Guemé. We denounced him repeatedly as being one of the accomplices of Boko Haram in the area but no investigation has ever been opened against him," argued Abakar, an inhabitant of Afade who found refuge in Kousseri.

“His former driver, Gréga Abanchimé, is today one of the ‘bigwigs’ of the sect. We informed the local authorities that he hosts lady named Ngalie at his home, whose husband is a manager of Boko Haram. He is called Emir Ali and again, there was not the slightest verification. We cannot pay for the mistakes of a single person. As long as the authorities do not open an investigation, we are not coming back,” he said.
