Littoral Governor calls for vigilance in region

National integrity was the focus of his presentation at the ceremony of New Year wishes to the Governor of the Littoral. "We appeal to all to be vigilant and report on all attempts of disorder, violence or hatred between Cameroonians through doctrines contrary to our desire to live together in peace, cohesion and solidarity”.

Joseph Beti Assomo, Governor of the littoral, thus set the tone for the year 2015: all necessary measures will be taken so that people and goods continue to circulate safely in the region. The littoral will thus play its part to maintain national integrity but this vigilance is requested from both the authorities and the population.

The Governor received New Year wishes on 14th January in Douala by corporate bodies, consular representations and international organizations. Commending the administrative authorities and the police for an 'outstanding' performance last year at the four corners of the region "despite reports on new forms of crime", Joseph Beti Baldev said he expected more: "this work must continue with greater rigour in 2015 thanks to the strengthening of human resource and other facilities available to guests by the head of State in 2014".

Though safety was paramount in the address by the Governor, it is not the only aspect of the life in the littoral. Beti Assomo notably recalled the "memorable" economic tour in its territorial area in 2014. The Governor did not fail to commend the efforts and support of all his colleagues in the various projects carried out in year 2014.

Among these collaborators, the Secretary General of the region, Ludovic Etienne Ngbwa, who in his speech recalled the highlights of the year elapsed: effective prevention measures against the Ebola fever, the fight against urban disorder including the prohibition of "cargo", the fluidity of traffic and by then the improvement in economic activity.
