Littoral: Battle for the Governor position

For now, Joseph Beti Assomo combines two positions till the naming of a replacement to his former position of Governor of the Littoral region. To properly manage that "strategic" position, the next Governor of the Littoral Region should be someone who is proven in "conflict management as rebellion often generates in Douala," we learn from the newspaper La Nouvelle Expression on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

According to the newspaper, the governors allocated to Douala were always chosen from the Governor's office. It is therefore possible that the next Governor of the Littoral is selected from the nine other governors in office. However, the next candidate might as well come from the list of prefects.

"Joseph Beti Assomo was a surprise of the last government, leaving Bonanjo to inherit the very strategic and delicate Minister delegate portfolio at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Defence, especially in these times of war against Boko Haram, as the resident of Etoudi can go fishing for the next boss of the Littoral out of the 58 land chiefs," extracted from the paper.

So far, no one understands why the office of Governor of the Littoral, as delicate as it is, remains vacant for almost three weeks. Indiscretions talk of "discretionary appointments" by the Head of State.

Anyway, everyone is on alert to see who will be the new head of the Littoral Region. Names are mentioned behind the scenes but until now nobody knows who will win the most coveted office of the Littoral region.
