Leadership tussle to cripple SWELA

SWELA SWELA

The Meme Chapter of the Southwest Elite Association, SWELA, is already drowning in a leadership tussle barely few months after the executive of the body was put in place.

A faction of the association is said to have put an end to the reign of Prince Daniel Nasako Molondo as Meme Chapter President of SWELA. He is said to have been replaced by Chief Peter Esambi Ngoh II of Malende, Kumba. The exposure of what seemed to be a secret, The Post learnt, has put and abrupt end to the cordial relationship that existed between the Prince and the Traditional Ruler.

Nasako’s fate was reportedly decided during an acrimonious meeting reportedly held in a hotel in Kumba on May 26, 2015.

The dissident camp is said to have furnished SWELA Secretary General, Joseph Moki Etukeni, with their decisions when he honoured the invitation of the Southwest Chiefs Conference that held in Kumba recently.

Prince Nasako has been accused of being overzealous in handling the affairs of the association in Meme.

His detractors have declared that Prince Nasako, who hails from Barombi Mbo Village, is drifting from the neutral position of SWELA to taking sides because of his ambitions of one day becoming a Government Delegate to the Kumba City Council.

Approached for his side of the story, Prince Nasako denied any wrongdoing while stating that he remains the Meme scribe of the association. Meanwhile, Chief Peter Esambi Ngoh II was not available for comment.

Unexpected Twist

The issue pitting Nasako and the Malende Chief has taken many aback, considering that the Chief has been the one chairing major SWELA meetings in Kumba.

Chief Ngoh chaired the recent SWELA Conference staged at the Kumba City Council.

He was reportedly begged to chair the meeting, given that the elite of the Division boycotted the come-together.

The same Chief reportedly took part in a meeting hosted by Prince Nasako during preparations for the 2015 National Day in which SWELA made its first ever appearance.
