The Governor of the Northwest region, Lélé Lafrique Deben Tchoffo Adolphe, was in Yaoundé where he took part in the first biannual security meeting, bringing together the Governors of the ten regions around the territorial boss twice a year, with the Minister of territorial administration and decentralization (Minatd), René Emmanuel Sadi.

Before his journey, the Northwest boss had convened the seven prefects of the Department in the region, politicians and members of civil society, religious and traditional Northwest authorities.

"We have a cosmopolitan population. We share a common border of more than 325 kilometres with neighbouring Nigeria. We are therefore not necessarily safe; reason why we must be extremely vigilant," Governor Adolphe Lélé Lafrique said in his introductory remarks over the Crtv in Bamenda.

After listening to the various officials of the security and defense forces, representing all the uniformed men, Adolphe Lélé Lafrique recommended a certain taciturnity and rigour in the implementation of the strategies for the strengthening of the security belt around the Northwest region.

"No person shall be sidelined. It includes ordinary citizens, students, pupils, tourists and carriers who load many passenger in the different cities of our country during the day", the Governor said in his closing remarks.

He also challenged the traditional authorities and populations to integrate the concept of prevalent defense through vigilance, intelligence and denunciation.
