Kumba: three die mysteriously

The death of Janette Cheche, Lilian Lanji and Eric Sembe is making news around Mbalangi a village under Kumba - Meme Division of the South West Region.

The three victims died on the same day within an interval of 30minutes after eating a common meal prepared by Lilian Cheche.

According to reports from some family members especially the last victim, 59year old Madame Janette, Cheche invited her daughter Lilian 40years old and nephew Eric Sembe 40years for dinner in her house.

close to an hour after the meal, madame Janette Cheche collapsed and died. Eric Sambe after having learned of it alerted some family members and while on his way to the victim’s daughter’s house, unfortunately met her collapsing and dying 30 minutes after her mother’s death.

Eric the last victim realizing this, knew he was certainly going to follow suite, decided to recount the story about their dinner, alerting onlookers to a possible suspect - Justine Nji, the co-wife or maid to Madame Janette who had sworn killing three weeks ago to take away the lives of the three.

Eric suspected she had poisoned the food in their absence given that his aunt had prepared the food in the morning kept till evening after her church meetings.

Justin Nji the suspect was immediately arrested under the instructions of the Divisional Officer for Mbonge Sub-division Simon Sombe, accompanied by the State Counsel and a Medical Doctor who came to administer postmortem.
