While the Northwest was yet to settle with the case of Happi Prety, a nursery school kid who died in the hands of kidnappers recently, the case of Asanji Romirro Andu of Rosary Nursery and Primary School, Old Town, Bamenda emerged.

As announcements went on that he was missing Peter Ade Fonte freelance reporter in Kumbo reports that he was later discovered on November 25, 2015, in Bui Division of the North West Region after being adopted in Bamenda near the family home on November 22.

According to Peter's report, a combined team from Judicial Police, Bamenda, and Public Security Station, Kumbo, descended to the field to search for the kidnapped child.

According to the Commissioner of the Kumbo Public Security Station, Yengi Alfred Shifuh, he received information from his colleague in Bamenda about the kidnapped child on November 24, 2015, 2015. He said after a complaint was lodged with the Judicial Police in Bamenda, investigators were sent to the MTN Telephone Company to find out the numbers used to ask for a ransom of one million FCFA.

They discovered that the kidnappers called from Tadu and Mah in Bui Division. Meanwhile, the abductors had directed relatives to drop the ransom in a bush at Takija. Judicial Policemen were planted around the area while a Special Branch operative monitored the movements of the kidnapper.

When he saw the kidnapper moving towards the area where paper was cut into the size of 10,000 FCFA and tied up in a bundle with two notes on top and at the bottom, he alerted the other colleagues to close in. It would appear the kidnapper sensed danger and took to his heels. The combined team of policemen chased him in vain. Asanji Romirro Andu was later rescued in the area where the kidnapper emerged.

Police found him sitting on a trunk, tired and feeble. The child was handed over to the mother who could not help shedding tears of joy. A cleaner with the Takija Cattle Market who failed to collaborate with the police was arrested and taken to Bamenda for investigations. Meanwhile, a manhunt for the unknown kidnappers continues.
