Job creators to reduce unemployment

Thirty fresh job providers in the field of catering, sewing and interior decoration and computer sciences have promised to reduce unemployment and contribute to vision 2035 through their self-reliant efforts.

They made the pledge during the graduation ceremony in their training centre on November 5th.

The Centre for Women Empowerment and the Family in Douala, dubbed CPFF, which is known to welcome mostly delinquents, school dropouts, and persons, who wish to ameliorate their cuisine, offered the graduants both short and long term training.

The long term training programme that runs for more than one year graduated 17 apprentices while 13 underwent short term training. The centre that graduated two Junior Parliamentarians also enrols apprentices in adult literacy, hair dressing and aesthetic. Since there is no age limit in apprenticeship, the Centre trains women with disabilities and widows on cheese and detergent production, dyeing and project management.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the Chief of Centre, Hortense Pone, congratulated the 30 graduating apprentices and enjoined those who are to repeat the causes due to poor performances to pull up their socks during the 2014/2015 training session.

In the presence of the Divisional Officer for Douala I and the Regional Delegate of Women Empowerment and the Family, she disclosed their handicap in infrastructure, material (sewing machines, computers, benches etc) and human resources to comfortably train the growing population that sprouted from 57 in the 2013/2014 session to 120 in the 2014/2015 session. The centre created in the year 2000 runs a Community Pharmacy and a Day-Care centre.
