MurderMurder

Stéphane, a 51-year-old Italian sailor, was found dead in his room in the Makepe-Missoke neighbourhood, Douala, in the early hours of Sunday, August 9, 2015.

There has been a certain degree of clamness since Monday morning at the Makepe-Missoke neighbourhood, at a place called ‘Bébé chéri’, in the 5th district of Douala. The mini-cite consisting of thirteen modern rooms was also very calm. Most tenants had gone about their business. When we approached the Stéphane’s apartment, we discovered that it was locked.

Nearby, was a pregnant woman who was reluctant to give any information. "The scene took place without my knowledge. I was in my room and I refused to leave because it is not recommended for pregnant women to see such scene,” she indicated.

In fact, the residents were mumbling and no one wanted to talk about it. "I slept at home, listening to people talk about this drama. Nobody knows the reason behind the death of this white man", revealed a woman.

The announcement of the death of Stéphane seemed to upset the residents.

"Last night, he passed in front of my house; we greeted and he looked well. I am surprised to hear that he committed suicide," exclaimed a resident in the area.

According to the information received, the reasons of his death are unknown. "On the eve of his death, he spent the night with two girls; 23 and 20 years old. Around 7 o'clock in the morning, one of these girls urgently came to ask my neighbour for a knife to cut the rope which was on the neck of the White man. She was taken by fear saying that his guy hanged himself", explained a resident.

According to a police source, upon their arrival at the scene of the tragedy, Stéphane was lying on the mattress. A liquid was found in a glass placed on the ground. When the victim was turned, the same liquid dripped from his lips. However, it was difficult to know the origin of his death.

The Italian once lived with a 23 year old girl whom he had met at Bonamoussadi. Everything was going well to the point where there was promise of marriage between the lovers. Therefore, after having spent a few months with her, he decided to leave her for Simo Fabiola Kamdem, 20 years old. The lovebirds moved to Makepe-Missoke at a place called ‘Bébé Chéri’.

Two months after they relocated, the ex-girlfriend tried to find Stéphane’s new home. She managed to find him and thereafter she shared nights with him and younger Simo Kamdem. On the eve of the drama, all three of them slept in the same room.

One of the two girls returned home at dawn, leaving Stéphane and Simo asleep. It was around 7 a.m. that Simo Kamdem noticed that Stéphane had given up the ghost.

From another police source, the body was deposited at the Laquintinie hospital mortuary. Simo Kamdem and her rival were taken to the judicial police for investigation
