International Education Week kicks off in Cameroon

International Education Week 2014 is officially here, and the U.S. Embassy in Yaoundé has begun its activities.

On Monday, November 17, Education USA Advisor, Richard Ewane, organized an information session through video conferencing at the James Baldwin Information Resource Center at the U.S. Embassy in Yaoundé.

The guest speaker was Mr. Kwadwo Poku, Recruitment and Alumni Manager at the Legatum Center for Entrepreneurship and Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

In the spirit of International Education Week, during which students are reminded that education is for everybody, Mr. Poku encouraged students to explore different opportunities for international students who are interested in studying at MIT.

For example, the Legatum Fellowship, which is a program geared towards empowering students with an entrepreneurial spirit. At the end of his presentation, Mr. Poku had a very lively conversation with the students about the accessibility of a U.S. education, and encouraged them to keep working hard at their studies.

The students left this session with a great deal of excitement about the opportunities for study at top institutions in the United States of America.

The Education USA Advisor reminded the students of the variety of services that are available to them at the U.S. Embassy as they go through the college application process.
