Inter-urban terminals experience congestion as schools reopen

Bus Station Bus Station

Long queues were noticed at payment counters ad waiting rooms were full of occupants with the incessant arrivals and departures of buses. Travel agencies’ attendance peaked on Saturday and Sunday.

The last week end before the resumption of schools, it was as if holiday makers had only one thing in mind; to return to their cities of residence. At Mvan, the free movement of vehicles was particularly difficult on Saturday night.

The manoeuvres of the buses which arrive and depart have increased. In one of these agencies, travelers were counted by their dozens. Sitting or standing, the urge to leave could be read on their faces. And to meet this demand, makers of these structures have increased their ingenuity.

In one of these travel agencies, orientation chain and reception of users has been well oiled. The staff has been increased at the counter. Instead of a lady on slow days, they are now four to the delight of users.

"I did not take long. In less than fifteen minutes, I bought my ticket and we are already preparing to leave", explained a traveller. The desire to make the financial inputs was certainly present but the security of everyone in these places remains a priority. Searches of baggage and passengers, reorganization of hours of travel for drivers, technical inspection of vehicles were carried out.

No detail was overlooked. Francis Ekotto, responsible for one of these structures, indicated that they “don't withhold security. President and CEO has just passed away and it is not time for a young team to shine by mishaps,” he concluded.

In another agency, Jean Fostin Evehe, ensured the departures and arrivals of bused and confired that all passengers passed through the metal detector. Here, the drivers affirmed there were days when they only made one or no trip at all. On this eve of school year, it is now two trips per day.
