Hon. Banmi donates 12m worth of equipment to Balikumbat Hospital

The Member of Parliament for Ngoketunjia South, Hon Banmi Emmanuel has donated a consignment of equipment worth close to FCFA 12 million to the Balikumbat Medicalized Hospital. That was at a twin ceremony that took place at the hospital on Friday, March 6, 2015.

He also donated four Pentium VI computers and 4-in-1 colour printers each to the Divisional Office, the Gendarmarie Brigade and Public Security Balikumbat and the Balikumbat student Union worth two million Frs.

“Put your problems in project forms and give to me and I will pick it up from there” Hon. Banmi told officials of the Balikumbt Medicalized Hospital and other services heads in attendance.

He described the Balikumbat Medicalized hospital as a “blessed hospital” even better than some district hospitals with two resident doctors and when further to informed the population that they can now benefit from the services of a dentist though posted there under another capacity, and his wife, a gynecologist who consult there for free once every month from Yaounde.

Hon. Banmi encouraged the population to make use of the hospital and avoid quack health practitioners if they want to raise it to a district hospital one day, adding “when a population is in good health it can take care of itself.”

He however cautioned the staff of the hospital to avoid the use of harsh language and to improve on the staff/patient relationship so as to attract more people to their services.

Speaking earlier, the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital Dr. Fozao Caroline added her voice to that of Mr. Doh Peter, Chairman of the hospital management committee to assure the MP that they equipment will be put into judicious use. She however decried the lack of staff in some departments, the need for a fence around the compound to secure the patients and equipment, an ambulance and a canteen and pleaded with the MP to once more come to their aide.

The D.O for Balikumbat, Ngwa Martin Manjong used the occasion to heap praises on the MP describing him as “development mover and not a noise marker”. He challenged other elites of the Subdivision to so same and to help make Balikumbat a better place so as to attract more development and civil servants. He said Balikumbat was fast growing and will not be the same in the next five years.

A total of 36 items worth 11.8 million was handed over to the hospital and included amongst others four hospital beds, two baby cot, two baby scale, one surgical aspirator, one microscope, 1 examination lamp, four bed sheets and plastic mattresses, one examination table, 20 litres of achohol, 10 cotton of 250g, 20 catheter, four non sterile gloves, three malaria test kits, uninaries, trash bins, five oxygen mask, plaster and a wheel stretcher.

Hon. Banmi also announced that another consignment of hospital equipment is already available to be handed over to the Bamukumbit and Bafanji health centres in days ahead.

The Balikumbat Hospital was opened on July 26 1960 as dispensary and has since benefitted a generator, beds, an extra modern private ward and computers amongst many others from Hon. Banmi Emmanuel.

Earlier, the MP inaugurated a water stand tap at the Bananjo neighbourhood which has been without pipe borne water ever since. The Over three kilometer pipe line, water catchment and reservoir was constructed to the tune of 6 million with Hon. Banmi contributing three million Frs and the community contributing the rest in material and labour.
