Fundong to receive 32 doctors, free medical care

The Mayor of Fundong Council, Denis Awoh Ndang, has disclosed that some 32 medical doctors will be visiting Fundong Town on May 17, to offer free medical consultations and medications to the population.

The team of medics would consist of Pediatricians, Gynecologists, Surgeons, Dentist, Internists and Ophthalmologists.

Speaking during, the adoption of the 2014 Administrative and Management Accounts of the Council, Mayor Awoh Ndang said the idea of inviting medical doctors to Fundong is the initiative of the Council, supported by the Association of Medical Experts.

He appealed to the Councillors to mobilise the population of the Boyo Divisional headquarters to massively turnout, whether suffering from major or minor illnesses, and benefit from the treatment.

“I urge you to carry the information to each and every person so that we can make the most out of the medics. In their previous outings they have had to consult over 800 patients in two days,” the Mayor said.

According to Ndang, the administrative accounts presented indicate an increase of FCFA 171,105,493 from those of 2013. Some departments, he said, witnessed a remarkable increase in revenue collection.

He said the Council in 2014 realised projects such as; the rehabilitation of Fundong Town-Kumtem-Fundong village-Ngwain-kuma-Atoini road, creation of parking lots at Laikom, provision of additional street lights in Fundong, donation of solar lamps to GHS Aduk, recruitment of Pouncil paid teachers for six months, provision of benches to 20 primary schools, payment of school fees to 25 trainees in SAR SM, supply of planting seeds to 67 women farming groups, donation roofing sheets to GHS Meli, GS Bonam, distribution of 30,000 coffee seedlings to farmers, construction of a modern toilet behind the grand stand and many more.

He appreciated the Government for making available credits for development projects in the municipality from the 2015 Public Investment Budget such as the FCFA 150 million for the Muteff-Ajung road and FCFA 68 million for Fundong-Laikom road.

Mayor Ndang, said the projects will go a long way to make the living conditions of the people of Fundong municipality better, as well as, alleviate poverty.

Present at the Council session were Divisional Delegates of the various Ministries who presented reports. The Mayor lauded the collaboration he enjoys with the Delegates, which, he said, has made Fundong Council to be among the best in the Region.

Ndang announced that he will soon leave for Yaounde to press for the Municipal Tenders’ Board to speed up the execution of projects in Fundong.

The Second Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Boyo, Nicolas Manchang Nkongho, praised Councillors for their maturity and urged the Council to withdraw some of the court cases that have been costly and time wasting.

He prescribed collaboration between the executive of the Council and Councillors and for them to always hold pre-Council sessions before the Council session opens.
