First female military commander installed

The first ever female military commander, Issova Sono Seraphine has been installed at the Specialised Marine Training Center at Isongo, Idenau.

Her installation comes after a presidential decree in February 2015, appointing her as the commander of the specialised marine training center.

The ceremony held on Friday May 29, was presided over by the Major General of all military training centers in Cameroon, Mpai Philip, accompanied by the Divisional officer, Basile Ekomba, colonels, commanders, captains, amongst others.

Issova Sono Seraphine is the 7th commander at the specialised military training center under the naval base and the 1st lady to come out as commander at the military. The centre trains all military forces in Cameroon and recognised as one of the best training centres in Cameroon.

During her installation, Issova Sono Seraphine exchanged signs of swords with the outgoing commander Ndzana Mvondo Christophe who has been transferred to the Douala naval base as commander.

Speaking to the new commander, Issova expressed her joy with this promotion and promised to work hard to meet the expectations of a commander.

Issova said that being a commander challenges her to stands in for her women folks and country.
