Fire ravages two houses

A student living with her uncle in a family house at the area called Plateaux in PK 10 neighbourhood was cooking when the incident occurred.

According to a family member, the girl placed the pot on a gas cooker at about 7:30am, asked a neighbour (tenant) to look after the pot while she rushed for a prayer session. The neighbour left few minutes after to fetch water and thereafter for the Ndokotti Market forgetting that she was assigned to control the cooking.

Sooner than later the content of the pot got burnt and the pot started to melt. At about 4:00pm, the gas cylinder exploded scattering flames of fire to other houses.

Two houses of three and four sleeping rooms respectively were completely razed.

The Fire Fighting Brigade could only stop the fire from spreading to other compounds.
