Fire burns Bandjoun chiefdom

The great Bandjoun chiefdom has been razed by fire on Sunday, January 11, 2015. To believe the famous artist Biss Mag, from Bandjoun, the fire destroyed much of the chiefdom mostly the houses of women.

"I speak for the leadership. The population has tears in their eyes because it hurts to be in that situation. Whenever there is fire, it is always serious. We are fighting to save what can still be saved. We are sad," indicated the artist Cameroon-Info.Net reached by telephone.

To believe our source, the large traditional hut, symbol of the power of this great village, was untouched by the flames, as the new Museum which houses works of art and other valuables.

Firefighters in Bafoussam, the regional capital, were limited in their intervention by the lack of water in the area.

"The origin of the fire is not yet known. Fortunately there were no casualties. But it is early to make an assessment," indicates on the phone, the artist Biss Mag.

In the space of ten years, this is the second fire recorded in this chiefdom led by His Majesty Honoré Djomo Kamga.
