Fako SDO promises hell on egoistic councilors

Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Zang III Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Zang III

The Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Zang III has warned Councilors of Tiko to shun personal ego and put the population and the State first. He threatened to personally face-off anyone who retards development in the community for selfish reasons.

He was reacting to a “vote of no confidence” against the Second Deputy Mayor, Blessed Tita Tingon, prepared by some 33 of 41 councilors of the SDF run council, Saturday June 4, during an Ordinary Session for 2016. The session was summoned to examine the Administrative, Management and Stores Accounts of Tiko Council for 2015 fiscal year.

Things got heated in the hall very shortly after the council session started with some councilors holding augments that Tingon be sent out of the chambers on grounds that he’s under presumptive suspension.

“We took the decision in this council hall to suspend (Blessed Tita) while waiting for the result. If the result is positive, he will be reinstated…” a Councilor opined.

After frantic efforts by the Mayor, Chief Daniel Moukondo Ngande, to call the house to order, the SDO once again stepped in, this time around with a stern and somewhat intimidating tone threatening to send out any Councilor who continued to drag the session for their selfish reasons.

“A commission of inquiry to investigate all these allegations levied against the A2 (Second Deputy Mayor) is already on course with their work. He cannot be suspended when investigations are not yet over,” shouted Zang III, adding that “A lot of people are involved in this matter including some you (councilors) sitting here. You will be shocked with the report of the commission.” The SDO said.

The Mayor who was already up to present his speech had to remain standing for over 17 minutes for the SDO to make the point – that is, why such intent to sanction the second deputy mayor should not be part of the Business of the Day.

The second deputy mayor is accused of illegal sales of council property including tractor tails, and stalls in markets of the Tiko municipality. He is also being accused of financial impropriety, illegally acquiring land titles for huge portions of land in Tiko. The matter was first brought up in March, 2016 when a document was sent to the SDO with 33 of 41 councilors pending their signature for Tita Tingon to be suspended from all council activities.

The accused, Tingon, refuted all the allegations blaming the negative attributions to partisan politics.

“My hands are clean… I am not vote holder so why accuse me of signing documents?” Tingon questioned, adding that “He (The Mayor) is cooking these Councilors behind against me. He sees me as a threat to the SDF Chairmanship position in Tiko. God is our Judge.”

The council continued with Mayor Daniel Moukondo revealing that as at 31st December, 2015, Tiko council realized FCFA 946,870.784 as revenue, while FCFA 880,808.273 was used as expenditure. According to him, Tiko council experienced an increase in revenue of FCFA 180,650.753 representing a percentage of 19.07 and an increase in expenditure of 173,021.753 representing a percentage increase of 19.6 as against 2014. Tiko council recorded 100% in all 35 projects carried out in the municipality.
