East region welcomes investment and development project for agricultural markets

The launch of activities took place June 4 in Bertoua, during a ceremony presided over by Thomas Ngue Bissa, national Coordinator of the PIDMA. It is an instrument of agricultural promotion, created by the head of State on 23 October 2013 which had the official launch of its planned activities nationally held in Yaounde on January 28.

The Eastern region has discovered the development project, which aims to put at the disposal of agricultural cooperatives resources to hasten the coming of second generation agriculture, as desired by the head of State.

Representatives of agricultural cooperatives, representatives of civil society, agricultural officials from the East, the representatives of the agricultural sector projects and the banking structures took part in this technical meeting which permitted Thomas Ngue Bissa to educate them on the procedures and mechanisms of the functioning of this project and its appropriation.

It was to enable all stakeholders to participate actively in its smooth implementation. In the eastern region, the PIDMA aimed at the transformation of subsistence of cassava and maize farming characterized by low productivity, in commercial agriculture with chains of competitive values.
