Douala Medical Centre closed over alleged mismanagement

The Douala II Sub-divisional Medical Centre, CMA, has been closed down following orders from the Mayor of Douala II Council, Denise Fampou. It is alleged that the medical centre was closed following mismanagement by the Chief Medical Doctor.

Patients of the medical centre were immediately transferred to the New Bell Hospital for further treatment while those who were about to be discharged went back home.

At the premises yesterday May 28, 2015, private security guards acting on instructions told journalists that they were not allowed to enter except upon permission from staff of the Mayor’s office, who unfortunately were not on seat.

The Mayor was not around either to clarify the media on reasons for the closure, while the Chief Medical Doctor was also not reachable. The facility that transformed from a dispensary to a clinic, then a medical centre and now placed under the Douala II Council, has just a Chief Medical Doctor, few nurses and some support staff.
