DAMASA UK donates to UPHEALTH Medical Centre

Beddings, medical equipment and patient’s needs were recently donated to the UPHEALTH medical Centre aka Hillcrest Group Clinic.

The donations were made last June 8 by DAMASA UK, a philanthropic institution based in the UK but owned by Cameroonians.

Present at the ceremony were, retired nurses, Senior Citizens, Barrister Nzoh Tarh and wife from UK, The pastor of the Apostolic Church, Dr and Mrs Andjorin etc.

Speaking at the event, the promoter of DAMASA -UK, Emma Najeme explained that she was overwhelmed to see that many other Cameroonians supporting her project.

She said as a trained nurse and one who has worked to the managerial rank, she was touched when Dr Andjorin told her about his intention to open a Cancer diagnosis and treatment centre.

Emma Najeme went further to say that she loves comfort and since she can provide comfort for herself, she could also do that for other people.

He appreciated all those who worked for the project from the gathering of the items to the transportation of same to Cameroon and finally to the recipients.

Emma Najeme urged the staff of the Clinic to work as a team and provide patients with comfort and care.

On his part, Barrister Nzoh Tarh, said DAMASA UK is one of such examples that Cameroon needs to attain emergence by 2035.

According to Dr Ekema Andjorin, the Proprietor of the Clinic, the clinic has existed for over seven years as a community clinic for the West Coast population and has been serving some companies in that part of the City.

He said the clinic is operating a community health insurance programme and that partners are helping them with regards to the setting up of the clinic.

Speaking about the Cancer Center Project, Dr Ekema Andjorin said, Cancer is very deadly though they have been able to save some lives in the past.

He postulated that the Cancer Center Project will be of benefit to Cameroonians reasons why he is calling on all involve to take it as a live saving challenge.

He said he will forever remain grateful to DAMASA UK for their support and like Oliver Twist; the centre will always need more support from them and like-minded organisations.

Madam Obi, a retired nurse intervened by giving nursing tips to staff of the UPHEALTH Medical Center.

In a vote of thanks, Madam Ekema, a nurse at the Clinic, expressed satisfaction and promised that the items would be used for the best comfort of the patients.

It should be noted that DAMASA is the combination of the first two letters of the names David, Mary and Sarah being father, sister and mother respectively of the Najeme’s, all of blessed memory.
