Child gives birth to a baby boy in Bertoua

An 11year old girl whose name we got as Lynda N. has been delivered of a baby boy at the Bertoua Regional Hospital in the East Region.

The young mother who was ignorant about the fact that she was pregnant was accompanied to the hospital by her grandmother and aunt who equally discovered the pregnancy at the verge of delivery.

Lynda N. despite her tenderness had a safe delivery, which is one of the rare cases in maternity records.

According to the midwife who assisted in the delivery -Mrs. Beng Marie Chantal, Lynda N. was normally supposed to undergo a caesarean section given that it was a high risk pregnancy.

She was finally delivered of a baby boy who was 2.6kgs.

Lynda N. who is a pupil of class 2 in a primary school at Belabo had been dating a certain Moses, a form three student of a secondary school in Bertoua who is allegedly the author of the pregnancy.

Reports say Moses; the said boyfriend has vehemently refused to own up even after having been interrogated by the Gendarmerie.

Meanwhile strict measures are being taken to guarantee appropriate health for Lynda N.; further investigations are being carried out to track down the father of the baby especially as Lynda’s relatives are bent to get hold of the boy whom according to them has violated their daughter.

This incident occurs at a time where there is an on-going campaign to stamp out unwanted pregnancy in the lives of youths especially minors.
