Born again woman drags husband to court over witchcraft

A 32-year-old woman, Rose Evenye from the South West region who worships at the Christian Redeemed Church, Hosannah Parish, Nchum-Bafut,Mezam division has taken her husband Ngwasina Stephen, 42, to court after she allegedly caught him red-handed, struggling to bury some charms outside her room as a means to kill her. Evenye is reported to have sued the husband on four counts, adultery, lying, witchcraft, and drug abuse.

When The Sun visited the crowd pulling incident at the compound of Ngwasina Stephen, at Manji-Bafut , Ngwasina Stephen was telling his neighbours that his wife Rose Evenye, is a witch struggling to kill him so to gain possession of his properties.

Sources close to Ngwasina told The Sun that, he had hired a witch doctor from Oku, Bui Division to carry the fetish act the night before.

The native doctor was intercepted and man handled by Rose Evenye and later that night, Ngwasina and one other fled for their life.

The Sun further gathered that the couple, Rose Evenye and Ngwasina Stephen in May 2013 formally and legally registered their marriage.

Happily married, Ngwasina Stephen allegedly believed to be practicing spiritual transcendental and was not aware of his wife’s Christian background.

It is alleged that some few months back, Ngwasina started experiencing strange happenings against him as his wife prayed every hour, during the day and late at night in the name of “Jesus Christ” ,at the top of her voice.

Since he could not resist the supreme power, it is alleged, he resorted to sex starvation between him and his wife. As the wife is believed to have questioned several times why the sudden starvation, she further noticed that her household equipment were being carted away by her husband to an unknown destination. He is reported to have sworn that the two must separate because darkness cannot live with light.

The Sun further gathered that Ngwasina Stephen had an earlier marriage and had an 18 year old girl child, and grand father of his child, his sudden transfer sorted to meet his old wife where all the kitchen utensils are presently laying and fate holds it that, he need his old wife back whom he knows can leak his old wounds well.

Talking to this reporter shortly after her church session in Nchum quarter, Bafut on Sunday 14 September 2014, Rose Evenye, said she has truly seen the power of God in defence of one of his daughter. She said if God had not revealed to her the hidden agenda of Ngwasina, she would have been a dead person.

As to how she feels being abandoned by her husband, she said, the Spirit of God has taken control and since she had taken marriage vows with Ngwasina for joint property, the court is certainly going to divorce them so that she can have her own share of property to start afresh.

She said church brethren are helping her with food and other needs while she gave special thanks to her parish pastor Ignatius of the Redeemed Christian church and Pastor Wara Solomon of the Ramah Christian Centre for their spiritual counseling through the revelation of the battles fought in her favor.
