Two trucks were attacked on the Maroua-Kousseri highway by non-identified gunmen, presumed to belong to the Boko Haram sect, according to security sources.

Trucks have been the target of rocket attacks, on the Maroua-Kousseri highway, on the Chadian border, near Dabanga", reported a security source from Kousseri who requested anonymity. He was contacted by Koaci via the telephone.

The information was confirmed by another military source stationed in Maroua. Trucks attacked were carrying goods. They left for Maroua, the capital of the Far North Region to Kousseri, another town in the same region.

"Attacked trucks were carrying different non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks," said the source. One person was seriously injured during the attack.

Since the beginning of the conflict between Cameroon and the Islamist sect, the Maroua-Kousseri-N'Djamena highway has been the target of multiple attacks, which regularly result in the death of civilians, or the taking of hostages.

According to l’œil du Sahel, the Ladado, Mafoufou and Bidao villages in the Borough of Makary, 30 km from Maltam, were burnt on Monday by the armed men, suspected to belong to Boko Haram. They were attacks which resulted in the abduction of two farmers of the Tayer village and were taken to Nigeria.

Finally on the subject of Boko Haram, it should be noted that approximately 225 Nigerians, refugees in Kousseri, have "freely chosen", to return to their country this week, confirmed security sources joined.
