Bangola kingmakers to face trial

Northwest Governor, Adolphe Lele L’Afrique, is bent on jailing some 15 Bangolan kingmakers who hatched palace coup against the current Fon of Bangolan, Fon Chafah XI last weekend.

“The fake kingmakers and notables took advantage of the absence of Fon Chafah and enthroned a fake Fon. As we arrived in the village on February 19, 2016, we were received by a hostile population that refused to concert with us and instead the people erected barricades and stoned some of the vehicles that accompanied me.

They are going to be prosecuted in keeping with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Cameroon,” said Lele L’Afrique in an interview with CRTV Bamenda on February 23, 2016.

The Governor was embittered by the fact that when he arrived in Bangolan to ensure that peace reigns, the villagers held him hostage by barricading the roads and did not want dialogue to prevail. He vowed that this barbaric act cannot be tolerated.

One of the notables from Bangolan (names withheld) told The Post that torture of innocent people in Bangolan has continued unabated and no human rights organisation has been around.

“On Monday, February 22, 2016, the Rapid Intervention Battalion, BIR, thrashed one of our oldest men in the village, Pa Ndifonge Seidou of Kwalang Quarter until he became unconscious after they poured hot water on him and rolled him in mud. Fortunately, the Fon of Babungo on passing intervened and pleaded that such treatment should not be given to a human being.

That was when Pa Ndifonge was released and taken to Shisong General Hospital in Nso where he is currently receiving treatment,” said the notable.
He added, “I am talking to you from a neighbouring village because the massive arrest has scattered most Bangolan people all over Ndop.

Children have been dressed in military uniforms to identify homes of those they termed rebels or enemies of the Fon to be broken into and terror is the order of the day now in the village”.

At press time, we were informed that the Bangolan elite in Bamenda, Yaounde, Douala and other towns would be visiting the detention centres before the weekend to lend assistance either in cash or kind to their detained kinsmen.
