Like their counterparts elsewhere in the country, recently promoted soldiers and gendarmes in Bakassi Peninsular in Ndian Division of the South West Region received their new ranks on July 1, 2015.

Officiating at the event in the Jabane BIR Delta Camp, Idabato, the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Ndian, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlin, urged them to be more hardworking.

The ceremony, which brought together family members, loved ones and the entire military family in Ndian Division, kicked off at noon with the singing of the National Anthem after the arrival of the SDO. A total of 10 members from the National Gendarmerie and the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) were promoted to ranks of Major, Sub-Lieutenant, Chief Sergeants and Chief Caporals.

In accordance with Presidential Decree No. 2015/2190 of 27 June 2015 and Ministerial Decree No. 15000607/DM/MINDEF/02411 of 30 June 2015, the Ndian SDO and some Divisional Officers placed corresponding epaulets on the shoulders of the recipients.

Using the laureates as examples, the Ndian Chief Executive Officer reminded the rest of the soldiers that hard and selfless commitment to State affairs pays. He encouraged them to continue in devotion, discipline and patriotism in the discharge of their duties while adding that their hard work is recognised at the level of the Presidency and they will all be rewarded in due time.

Lieutenant Colonel Nang Zengue Roger, Commander of the BIR Delta, on his part, congratulated the recipients and reminded them that their promotion was an act of trust by President Paul Biya. He called on them to live up to their respective tasks and expectations and to be more vigorous because the State expects much from them.

Reacting to Lieutenant Colonel Zengue’s words, Gendarme Major Tchidebang Nguea of 81 Escadron Mundemba said, he felt good about his new promotion and the trust the State has placed in him. He promised to live up to expectations by being selfless, committed and patriotic in his duties like never before.

On the other hand, newly promoted Gendarme Major Ajabe Sumelong Samuel, who is Company Commander for Isangele, expressed gratitude to God. He thanked the Head of State for recognising his hard work by entrusting him with a more endowing responsibility in a zone as sensitive as Bakassi.
