The identification service of the Bafoussam judicial police was filled with dozens of people, who were waiting to work on their National Identity Card

At 6:30 am the number had increased. With cloud formed, to signify rains, it did not deter the people. Despite the presence of a blinding mist and cold, one could still see few silhouettes of people. Some sitting or lying on the floor and others catching the last moments of sleep.

"I woke up at 4 am today to get here a little early and do my national identity card (Cni),” said Donal K. a young bachelor. There are people inside the judicial police building and also outside in the queue for their National Identity Cards. The older people were politely given seats on one of the benches for public use. With their folders, they all seem determined to put an end to the stress once and for all.

“It's been almost three weeks now and I’m now having my ID card,” said a student. At seven o'clock, when the identification office opens, the ranks are formed spontaneously.

"This is important as it proves that, indeed, you are a Cameroonian citizen by presenting your national identity card, in order not to be disorganized. This is due to the current situation in our country, which is insecurity. On busy days, about 100 people are able to receive theirs,” clarified Mrs. Njem, chief of the Western Judicial Police Identification Center.

But the reasons for this influx are the least numerous. "This is more precisely either the renewal of national identity cards or a person who is already in possession of a card that has expired since the validity of a card is 10 years. There are also those who have never had a card and are now coming to have it for the first time, "said the chief.
