Back to School: MINEDUB chooses the Extreme North region

Beyond the sounds of bells in schools Monday, the siren of the Minister of Basic Education, Youssouf Hadidja Alim, rang all day yesterday in the streets of Maroua.

MINEDUB chose the Extreme North Region to officially launch the new 2015-2016 school year. At her side was the governor of the Far North Region, Midjiyawa Bakari, who watched particularly on all the links of the big event of the year with elementary and kindergarten students.

This was a solemn ceremony that attracted a large number of parents, students and administrative and traditional authorities of the Founangué public school that was presided over by the MINEDUB in Maroua.

Before this point that set the tone of the 2015/2016 school year through speeches, skits and presentation of gifts, at 8 am, the procession of Yusuf Hadidja Alim passed by several primary and maternal establishments in the city of Maroua including: Doualaré Public School of the Catholic private school Sainte Anne at Doualaré, the Islamic Kindergarten and private bilingual primary Sabil Doualaré of the Preschool enforcement of Founangué. The students received encouragement from MINEDUB.

In her speech for the occasion, Minister Alim stressed that the choice of the Far North Region is not a matter of chance. It is a call for national and total mobilization, not only for the country but particularly in the area of the Far North which have been the victim of insecurity for some time.

She took the opportunity to wish the children, teachers, parents and the different stakeholders involved in education, a good school year. Encouraging them all, she promised to continue with support because education has a place in the Cameroonian society.

She provided support in the form of didactics and hygienic materials to schools of the six departments of the region. It included chalk, pens, notebooks, buckets, rakes, bleach, wheelbarrows, slates, pencils, reams of paper, etc.

Before ending her program yesterday, she held a meeting with all the managers involved in the implementation of the School Emergency Plan instructed by the head of state. It was about doing an inventory to complete the work which is already 90% complete. She will be at Mora in Mayo-Sava today.
