Anglophone Staff at National Assembly hail Fako East MPs

Members of the Anglophone Club of the National Assembly have unanimously applauded Fako East MPs, Hon Etombi Ikome Gladys and Hon Frizt Ngeka Etoke, for the warm, humble and friendly manner in which they received them, while on a visit to the constituency.

The members, who are workers of the National Assembly from the Anglophone extraction, were in Limbe on Saturday, February 7, for a relaxation trip to enjoy some of Limbe’s tourist sites.

After welcoming the delegation at her office, Hon Etombi had an in-camera discussion with them, in which they exchanged ideas on a variety of issues.

The group then left to get a view of the Mbando festival which was coincidentally taking place that same morning.

The later part of the morning saw them visiting some tourist sites within Limbe, and about 4pm, they were invited to wine and dine with Hon Etombi at her residence.

Rosemary Winky Ambo, Assistant Research Officer at the social affairs department of the national assembly who doubles as president of the club, while explaining to The SUN the purpose of their visit said, they had been planning for a relaxation trip since 2012, and now that the time was ripe, they decided to make Limbe their first stop, due to the historic and tourist potentials the city harbours.

“Thus we decided to stop by to greet our Hon MPs. Hon Etombi was quite happy to receive us and she has done more than we expected. She has given us such a treat that we will remember for a long time” she said.

According to the members, the visit is going to help some members of the association who have never been to Limbe, to get a taste of what the city offers. They hope to visit all the divisions which constitute the two Anglophone regions of the country.

Talking to The SUN, Hon Etombi, in her usual soft-spoken and delightful manner said, “I am really happy that they decided to visit Limbe, because Limbe, of course has a lot to offer to people who want to have some time for themselves and am just very glad and happy to receive them”.

Earlier on, the group paid a courtesy visit on February 6, to Hon Frizt Ngeka Etoke, whom they described Hon Fritz Ngeka Etoke, as an example of a legislator who puts the people first.

Rose Mary Ambo, said they came to encourage Honourable Fritz Ngeka Etoke to keep up with his vision for the people.

“We decided to visit Fako East where we have Hon. Etoke and Hon. Gladys Etombi. Hon. Etoke is the youngest MP in South West. He is a visionary Member of Parliament. He is open to us, he’s down to earth and moreover, he is friendly,” she said.

Reacting to the visit, Hon. Etoke said he was humbled by the visit, adding that it serves as an encouragement for him to do even more.

“The National Assembly is my office and I’m impressed with the visit of the national assembly staff. You can see that a majority of them are youths and they chose to visit a youth during no other period but during the build up to the Youth Day.

I thank them for coming. Their coming serves as an encouragement for me to do even better in the discharge of my functions as a member of the glass house and to give even more to my constituency.

I’ll want to say that they have given me the encouragement to go ahead by appreciating me. I’ll not stop. I’ll continue doing the right thing,” Hon. Etoke said.
