Ako/Misaje MP thanks electorate for sending him to parliament

The Member of Parliament for the Ako/Misaje special constituency in Donga/Mantung Division has thanked the people for voting the CPDM party on September 30, 2013 thereby sending him to represent them at the National Assembly.

This was during a homecoming organized in Ako and Misaje on March 22 and 24 respectively during which the MP declared himself “Man of the People.” At the occasion, he promised not to disappoint them urging them to stick to ideas of the CPDM party. He thanked the people for the confidence given him at the election, encouraging them to continue giving him the confidence and that they shall all work together.

In Misaje Sub-Division on March 24, the reception offered the MP was simply spectacular and unimaginable as it coincided with the 29th anniversary of the CPDM party. CPDM supporters in the 12 villages of Misaje assembled at the grandstand on March 24 not only to celebrate the anniversary but welcome their Hon. Member of Parliament, Hon. Abe.

Different speakers at the event enumerated the success of the party which brought development to Misaje including the tarring of the ring road. Central Committee delegate Dr, Fuh Calistus Gentry called for cohesion within party rangs. He said Misaje had become the stronghold of the CPDM in Donga/Mantung and in exchange, government has shown largess in terms of development projects. He thus likened the anniversary to a feast of more schools and health centres, the upgrading of roads, water and electricity supply, the consolidation of peace and sustainable development amongst others. He also preached party unity.

Prizes were given to villages, polling stations and supporters for outstanding performances during the September 30 elections. The crowd pulling rally culminated in a Motion of Support to the CPDM National President Paul Biya.

Before taking off for the homecoming, Hon. Abe declared to the press that “When something good comes your way especially from your people, it is but normal culturally and socially to go and say thank you”.

In this light, he revealed that he was going home to thank his electorate for the confidence they gave him on September 30, 2013 elections in which he was voted as their representative at the lower house of Parliament. According to Hon. Abe, a parliamentarian does not work alone.

“I am not going to work alone, apart from voting good laws, we have to move round the corridors of the various ministries to lobby for one or two projects”. These projects the Ako/Misaje MP said would benefit the people he is representing.

Asked why he did not organise his homecoming during Christmas as gift to his constituency, he said “the Christmas gift of my electorate is the brand new MP who they know very well shall deliver”. However he reiterated that he cannot deliver what is expected of him alone: thus, besides saying “thank for your votes”, he will be calling on his electorate to be opened in telling him what is not going on well so that together they can get their own share of the national cake.

He said “in the next five years, Ako/Misaje will not be the same. There must be some remarkable changes. We have to leave a legacy, God being our helper. There must be something to show that this man was there from this period to that period. We are going to transform the area development carefully, God being our helper”.
