Mayo-Darlé, a mining area in the Adamaoua Region and consisting of almost 15 000 people, now has had the privilege of being provided with drinking water after 30 years.

A supply was built, through the initiative of the Cameroonian government, in eight months.

There was a technical and temporary reception ceremony of the book was held August 12, 2015, in the presence of sub-prefect of Mayo-Darlé, Youssoufa Oumarou, representative of the governor of the region of Adamawa.

The capture source located at the foot of Mount Boumdo can power the terminal fountain installed at the town market. Other fountains and two tanks were also positioned on either side of the mining basin of the region. In all, there are five supply points scattered within the urban perimeter.

Mayor Gbeungba Toulalé announced that 85 families are already connected to the natural water source in Mayo-Darlé (Senamad), the new service that manages the water supply.

It has been almost 30 years since the inhabitants of the Mayo-Banyo department, located between the districts of Banyo and Bankim, had their water turbines stopped whirling in the 90s.

Tanks to collect water for distribution to the population

Public services, including the sub-prefecture and the town hall, were connected to the distribution network built over a length of 16.5 km. The forward led project of over a period of eight months by a Cameroonian company and valued at 200 million FCFA, was supported by the Priority Investment Programme (PIP).

"Even in times of low water, the city will be supplied," assured the Regional Delegate of Water and Energy of Adamawa, Claude Eloundou.

According to engineers, this water supply built with a gravity system has an autonomous operation which does not depend on electrical energy and fuel. With a high altitude, the pressure would be insured for at least 25 years.
