4 injured in a tanker explosion in Bafoussam

Fire Fire

Four people have been injured after a tanker carrying fuel exploded in Dschang in the Department of Menoua, Western Region, due to a brake system failure.

This was reported by the driver and his conveyor who immediately jumped out of the car, which was on high speed, in a bid to save their lives. The act was unfortunately at the expense of other citizens present in a place called carrefour Bamoungoum on Wednesday, August 12, 2015.

Specifically, the brake failed while the driver was about descending Bakassa to get to carrefour Bamoungoum. As a result of the high speed, the tanker overtook a Rav4vehicle and collided it to another vehicle; Land Cruiser V8.

The accident caused a huge fire outbreak that fully consumed the Land cruiser V8 and the loaded tanker despite the efforts of firefighters from Bafoussam and those of Bafoussam-Bamoungoum airport to extinguish the flames.

While the people struggled to save themselves, four were seriously injured, and many others suffered from shock or minor injuries.

Informed of the incident, the Governor of the Western region, Awa Fonka Augustine, arrived at the scene to comfort victims, while the four seriously wounded and others who sustained minor injuries were taken to the Bafoussam regional hospital, according to Crtv West. No loss of life was recorded. Psychosis This fire caused by the tanker brings back to memory the incident that occurred three weeks ago, where eight shops at the Manguiers market in Yaoundé in the central region were burnt down.

For the first time, after a meek fire that engulfed provision shops, authorities in Yaoundé were seen on the site at ‘Manu Militari’. They were the Governor of the central region, the prefect of the Department of Mfoundi, Minister of small and medium-sized enterprises, social economy and handicrafts (Minpmeesa), elements of the rapid intervention battalion (BIR), the GSO, and the police. These are personalities who were hardly seen in the field shortly before the beginning of the war against Boko Haram which renders all Cameroonians sensitive and suspicious.
