18 couples solemnize their marriages in Kedjom Keku

Eighteen Catholic Couples last Saturday in the St. Bernard Catholic Parish Kedjom Keku (Big Babanki in Tuhah Sub division in Mezam division) solemnized their marriages under the watchful eyes of their children, family members and relations that turned out in their large numbers for that occasion.

The married couples have been living together after their traditional marriages. The Parish Priest of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church Kedjom Keku Rev. Father Antoninus Tatah assisted by Prospective seminarians on internship carried out the marriage rituals. In his homily at the occasion Rev. Father Antoninus Tatah outlined eight key points for married couples to be observed in order to have a successful marriage life.

He thanked the couples for the courage and sacrifices made to attend doctrine for their Christian marriages to be solemnized. He recalled that Jesus Christ performed the first miracle at Canna Galilee during a marriage feast to change water into wine when it ran short.

Christian marriages he pointed out should be conducted for people to live in companionship and not for beauty, wealth or materialism but for the natural love that exist between the couples. Marriages the Clergy man stated are not more conducted for people to come to feed and drink to their fill but for those who have consent for others and not to come and contribute in the separation of the couples.

He said the couples had come before God and man to sign a contract of marriage that is ever until death do them part. Among the eight points the couples have to observe include the intensification of family and individual prayers by the couples appreciation and acceptance of one another, respect, love for one another, openness, understanding each other and to reflect on whatever they want to do.

He said the couples have to disperse gossips, avoid anger, lies telling from in-laws, self-interest and stressed the need for the couples to belong at least to one church action group for evangelization and that their motto should be prayers, love and forgiveness for one another. He implored God to use the 18 marriages solemnized to attract church to do so.

A representative of the couples in a speech said the solemnization of their marriages by the Priest was a dream come true. She thanked Rev. Father Antoninus Tatah and the Seminarians and the Catechists for the work done to put them through for the Christian marriages. She promised that the newly wedded couples would be a shining light for others to follow. She called on the faithful to join the couples to support the church to buy church vestments for the Priests.
