10 perish in ghastly motor accident

About ten people have lost their lives in a tragic motor accident along the Yaounde – Ebolowa highway, around the Nsimalen area.

The accident which left several others seriously injured, occurred in the evening of Sunday 8th February 2015.

Sources say that the accident was a head-on collision between a passenger bus from Yaounde and a heavy-duty vehicle, while they were both negotiating a curve. Witnesses believe that the slippery road due to the rains was a factor in the collision.

They however mentioned that, the vehicles were also moving at top speed and thus considered this a principal cause of the accident.

In the meantime the road safety team has opened up investigations on the accident and the injured are currently receiving medical attention.

This accident has occurred at a time when Government has increased checks along major highways in the country to ensure road safety.
