UN System to Support Cameroon's State Audit

The support consists of assisting Cameroon translate political will into a series of actions.

The United Nations System in Cameroon is determined to accompany the country translate its political will and programmes into a series of actions within the framework of the UN mandate in Cameroon. The Resident Coordinator of the UN System, Najat Rochdi on January 24, 2014 in Yaounde had discussions with the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit, Henri Eyebe Ayissi.

After the discussions, Najat Rochdi disclosed to reporters that UN agencies in the country will come up with an action plan that will be presented to the media later on. She said the discussions were an occasion for her to listen and learn more about the Supreme State Audit Office which she stated was "at the heart of what has to be done to make sure that the highest level of political will is translated into actions and programmes."

The Supreme State Audit Office, the UN official said, is an "important institution with a complex mission and has our support." The institution, she further said, addresses the heart of development and Cameroon's emergence vision. The vision has to go through reforms of the public administration, greater transparency, accountability and the quality of the public services, Najat Rochdi specified. As such, the management and control of public finance are the key when it comes to the process.
