Succession Foning: Divisions in the CPDM

CPDM General Secretary CPDM General Secretary

The Cameroon People Democratic Movement (Rdpc) has just recruited Albert Ndzongang, the leader of Dynamique, according to Koaci.

Jean Nkuete, the Secretary General of the ruling party, has recruited Albert Ndzongang, CPDM dissident and head of Dynamique (a political party created after his resignation from the CPDM and which does have neither municipal Advisor, nor members of Parliament and senators) revealed a signed document from the SG/Cpdm.

The signed document from the SG of the ruling party revealed that the recruitment of Albert Ndzongang, is aimed at "containing and neutralizing activism from uncontrollable people within the opposition", including Jean Michel Nitcheu member of SDF in Douala, Maurice Kamto (MRC) from the Highlands and Pierre Kwemo, leader of the UMS and Mayor of Bafang.

The main issue of all the opponents raised was that, they are from the West region of the country. According to another document from the CPDM, Peter Agbor Tabi, SGA at the Presidency of the Republic, welcomed the recruitment of Albert Ndzongang, who him described as a "former noisy dissident and ‘good news’ to the assets of the Sg/Cpdm.”

However, he moved away from the reason for this recruitment which officially is "the replacement of Foning Françoise, the ruling party heavyweight and former Mayor of CPDM in the town of Douala V, who died on January 23, 2015.

For him, "it would be malicious to leave all the companions of Foning and seek the 'rare bird' within the ranks of the opposition".

"It seems difficult that loyal and dedicated activists suddenly accept the leadership of someone who betrayed their party and that is because of the numerous setbacks suffered from the opposition," he added as a reason for rejecting Ndzongang as a choice.

Peter Agbor Tabi indicated that consultations must be incurred within the ruling party for the replacement of Françoise Foning, native activist of the Western region, who established herself in the economic metropolis, as a key political heavyweight.
