SDF promises hell for councilors who sell votes

The Social Democratic Front, SDF has promise to rain down hailstones on any CPDM or SDF councillors caught exchanging SDF ballot papers for money during the 14th April senatorial election in Cameroon , said SDF chairman at a press briefing in Bamenda, Thursday April 4, 2013. “Please don’t make a mistake to bring a voters card out, please don’t” Ni John Fru Ndi warned repeatedly.

At the same time Ni John Fru Ndi called on all to be campaign managers for the party. He described the SDF as the only party that has stood the taste of time fighting for the rights of Cameroonians. “Giving your political maturity, you know in your hearts where the truth lies”

Ni John Fru Ndi appealed to the consciences of Cameroonians. Responding to questions from the press, Ni John Fru Ndi clarified that the party had never taken a stand not to run for the senatorial elections or any other election in the country. He said The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party mandated him to push the regime as far as they can go to get whatever concession that can improve the democratic landscape of the country.

On the issue of 100 machetes to be used to disrupt the election, the chairman was more rhetorical asking which of the two weapons was more dangerous; machetes or guns? He alluded to the situation in the 90s where the government imported guns to fight the SDF and nobody cared. But because he mentioned guns ever body started panicking.

“I didn’t know that Cameroonians are this afraid of machetes” he wondered. On the issue of whether he would quit his position as party chairman if he wins a seat in senate, Ni John said that would be a decision of NEC, but then quarreled with the journalists why they are quick to ask him that. “Have you ever asked Biya to step down, have you ever asked Bello to step down, have you ever asked Ndam Njoya to step down?, Ndam Njoya goes in as mayor, as parliamentarian…” he queried.

As to whether the SDF has signed a secret pact with the CPDM, Ni John Fru ndi was quick to refute it and said the SDF never signs secret pacts. The SDF he continued negotiates but does not sign pact. Ni John also rebuffed claims that he is gunning for the position of the president of the senate.

“I am going in to render a service to Cameroonians, the SDF is going in to debate and work for its people” Ni john said. “But if the other senators from the other political parties sit in the assembly and said Fru Ndi we think you can chair this senate. Should I say no?…” he wondered.

He also used the opportunity to present the list of substantive and alternate members of the SDF list for the senatorial in the Northwest which include;
