The last election of the head of the municipality of Douala V is still causing some divisions among members of the Social Democratic Front (SDF).

Two of the main protagonists of this disagreement clashed via the media. They exchanged words in the columns of Le Messager newspaper’s Thursday, August 13, 2015 edition.

Jean Michel Nitcheu, President of the SDF in the Littoral Region, said Abel Elimbi Lobè’s, Councillor of Douala V and Assistant National Secretary of the party, communication is an evidence of "indiscipline" and that his behavior is extreme.

The MP believed that his friend is either in dementia or wants to commit political suicide. As to the election itself, Nitcheu is surprised that as a member of the National Executive Committee of the SDF, Elimbi “is ignorant of the texts of the party."

He argued that in the statutes of the SDF, mayors and their deputies are selected or appointed by the Committee, based on nominations. He indicated that Elimbi has benefited from these texts in 2013 to become deputy mayor of Douala V.

Nitcheu reminded Elimbi of the subject of disciplinary procedures "for its excesses in the media" and suggested that he leaves the party if he is not in tune with his texts.

He declared that "the SDF is a party that respects discipline. Activists do not decide to invest in positions without the approval of the hierarchy."

According to the head of the SDF in the Littoral, Elimbi "began to go against himself through his stance characterized by tribalism as compared to the primary sociological composition of Douala V. This is a paradox in relation to this population that elected him, who he tries to deride. This fellow just broke the branch on which he sits."

In response, Elimbi Lobè barked at the masquerade on the selection of the SDF candidate for 6th Deputy Mayor post in Douala V.

"Michel Nintcheu and all who believed in him presented us with a questionable alchemy, Carlos Ngoualem, who was installed as the candidate by the party. They did this without showing anyone nor the public, the supposed letter of investiture which could allow Carlos Ngoualem for everyone to judge the authenticity of the maneuver," he fumed.

He would be on trial at Douala-Ndokoti Court for the embezzlement of the sum of 3.05 million FCfa, representing the costs of deposit of candidates of the SDF to a recent national poll.

Elimbi is as a clean man anxious to defend the ethics and transparency within the SDF. "I belong to a school that opposes SDF to serve as a pension to others. I belong to a class of activists who refuse the SDF as a bargaining chip whose profits go into the pockets of a few people who actually live only this: the money that the policy would bring them,” he concludes.
