PNDP: FCFA 42 bln for third phase

The Government of Cameroon and the World Bank have signed a partnership worth 42 billion FCFA to support the third phase of the National Community Driven Development Programme (PNDP) for the over 300 councils in Cameroon.

The partnership was signed on January 3, 2016, in Yaounde.

Signing on behalf of Government, the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Louis Paul Motaze explained that the funds will promote the decentralisation process as it will contribute in empowering local communities.

The World Bank Operations Officer in Cameroon noted that the second phase of the partnership was very effective in reaching out to local communities.

She indicated that 42 per cent of the funds will be sent to the Far North Region which is facing threats from the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
