Okie tells Kupe-Muanenguba people to emulate ministers

To head the steering committee of the homecoming of a minister is a daunting task.

It is even more daunting to head one like that for the homecoming of the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of Finance in charge of the Budget, Paul Elung Che; an event that pulled an unprecedented attendance in Tombel and Bangem over the weekend.

But this is a feat that the chairman of the steering committee of Minister Paul Elung’s homecoming, Okie Johnson, who works at the Supreme State Audit, achieved with dexterity.

While addressing the population that turned out for the event in Tombel on January 30, 2016, on behalf of the elite of the Division, Okie Johnson said Kupe-Muanenguba’s umbilical cord was inextricably tied to the New Deal and has always been close to President Biya’s heart.

He added that the division has resolved to remain steadfast in supporting President Biya.

He substantiated government’s concern by noting that Kupe-Muanenguba children’s education has been guaranteed by schools created even in the remotest parts of the division among several other development projects. He, however, stated that much still has to be done to remedy the situation of roads in the division.
The poverty of the masses is not that they are lazy but that bad roads aggravate their situation, he said.

As a message to the elite, Okie Johnson warned them to desist from running to the ministers to run down others because they want favours.
“If you don’ have anything good to say, don’t go to the ministers,” he cautioned.

To Ministers Ngwese and Elung, he enjoined them that their collaboration should be a lesson to hand down to posterity.

To traditional rulers he cautioned them not to take sides on issues between the two ministers.
