New cultural attaché to Nigeria thanks President Biya

Dr. Lola Nkamanyang Pepertua, a lecturer with the University of Bamenda, UBa, who was recently appointed by President Paul Biya as Cultural Attaché in the Cameroon High Commission in Nigeria, has expressed gratitude to the Head of State.

Apart from being the Head of Service in charge of International Cooperation in UBa, Dr Lola is also the First Deputy Mayor for Mbiame Council in Bui Division of the North West Region.

Talking to CAMNEWS in Kumbo recently soon after her appointment, Dr Lola said: “It may be a surprise to learn that my first reaction was not actually the excitement that every person will expect, but the task ahead of me. That is not to say that I am ungrateful or unappreciative. I would like to use this opportunity to thank the Head of State, President Paul Biya, for recognising that I have something to offer to Cameroon. He realised that I can contribute to take Cameroon a step ahead towards Vision 2035. This is probably why he gave me this huge assignment, which is like a mountain on my shoulders. I am thankful to him,” the new diplomat concluded.

The new Cultural Attaché also used the opportunity to thank the Mayor of Mbiame, Fonyuy Fidelis Bernsah and Senator Emma Lafon, for mentoring her in politics.

Born in 1972 to Mary Lola and the ‘Shufai’ of Kovki in a humble family setup, Dr Lola Nkamanyang Pepertua attended Government Primary Schools, Mboshong and Mbiim, and later Government High School, Jakiri; all in Jakiri Subdivision of Bui Division.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature in 1995 from the University of Yaounde I before proceeding to Germany where she obtained a PhD in Literary Studies in 2008. Dr Lola Nkamanyang Pepertua is married to Nkamanyang Clement. They have two children and many other adopted others.
