Cabinet Reshuffle: Has the SDF sent a list of 45 members to Paul Biya?

Some members of Ni John Fru Ndi’s Social Democratic Front (SDF) party have officially denied the report by The Horizon newspaper that, they have sent a list of 45 members to President Biya for government positions.

In some of its editions, the The Horizon newspaper reported a few times that (SDF) had forwarded the list to Paul Biya for a possible open government. Furthermore, the Anglophone newspaper argued that Honourable Joshua Osih, MP and vice president of the party, had been tipped for The Star Building.

After a session of the National Assembly last year, answering questions by Cameroon-Info.Net, the applicant himself had categorically denied the opening of negotiations between the SDF and the ruling party to a possible national unity government.

Contacted by telephone this morning about the issue, a member of the Shadow Cabinet of the Social Democratic Front anonymously alleged that The Horizon newspaper’s claims were just an illusion.

"If the SDF had wanted to join the government, it would have done that a long time ago. Our party can enter a transitional government but never in a government where it is in alliance with the CPDM which we denounced its management. So understand that these allegations fall under pure fantasy," ruled our interlocutor.

While a new government is strongly anticipated, the CPDM is in need of a broad coalition to carry out the fight against Boko Haram. Even if the appointment of an opponent as prime minister would not be in the agenda, some well-informed sources confirmed that one or more opposition parties could make their entry into the government.

However, aside the prime minister; sovereignty ministries such as defense, territorial administration or justice, will always be occupied by the CPDM, says a source close to the central committee
