CPP banned from participating in Yaounde parade

After a meeting on preparation for the parade on May 20 held this Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the premises of the Mfoundi prefecture in Yaoundé, Cameroon representatives of People's Party (CPP) led by Mr. Daniel M. André NDJAYIG NACK were surprised to learn from the Prefect of Mfoundi, Mr Jean Claude Tsila that: "The CPP is suspended from the parade since 2011 and can not be reconsidered until it can change its ideology and practices".

"Agents of the CPP were informed that their party will not take part in this symbolic moment for Cameroonians, for unfounded reasons. At the moment, we are preparing to commemorate the 43 years of consecration of our national unity, the Cameroon People's Party is indignant: Non-compliance by the Prefect of Mfoundi.

"As a political party we filed our notice for the parade in writing in due form. Any notification banning us should be formally written, giving explicit legal reasons for such a ban.

"The administrative confusion that this official gave is the ideology of the CPP as described in its basic texts and documents. It is what was used by the Ministry of Territorial Administration (for which is the work of the Prefect of Mfoundi) to grant an authorization to the CPP party.

"Where does it come that the same ideology is grounds for the ban to march on May 20? To what "practical" reason? Because some of our state officials, whose salaries are paid by our taxes, forget that they work for the people of Cameroon and not to certain individuals or certain parties. It is inconceivable and unacceptable that when we reflect over our national unity, celebrating the diversity of our nation and laying the foundation for future Cameroon, it is inconceivable that at this moment one, the CPP, party of Cameroonian people, is marginalized by a confused official.

"Incongruities and absurdities of the prefect of Mfoundi. He informed us orally that CPP is prohibited from parade since 2011. Not only our party has not received any notification to that effect, but the CPP has participated well and beautiful in parade routes of many towns in the national territory since 2011.

"The Cameroon People's Party remains faithful to his fight for Cameroon unity in its diversity, a Cameroonian's Cameroon where each and every Cameroonian has full advantage of the resources of our country.

Therefore, our political party, your political party, will take part in the commemoration of our national unity on May 20, 2015. We will celebrate Cameroonian, we will celebrate the united Cameroon, we will celebrate this day, not so long ago when all officials of our country will work with only one motto "The People First!" For Cameroon People's Party," The Secretary General.
