CPDM initiates Fon of Nkwen

His Majesty, Fon Azehfor of Nkwen in Bamenda III Subdivision, was over the weekend, initiated into the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM, at his Palace in Nkwen.

The brain behind the event, Dr. Peter Ndonwei, a CPDM political bigwig in Bamenda III, who resides in Ghana, said the visit to the Fon was to demonstrate their love for him and to make it clear that since the new Fon was enthroned a year ago, Nkwen has not been the same.

“We have come in our numbers to tell the Fon that this is a new dawn in Nkwen, a village that has suffered under the darkness of the opposition for long. We are prepared to emerge from this darkness imposed by the opposition for over 23 years, which is a very long time,” Ndonwei remarked.

According to Ndonwei, since the death of John Ngu Foncha, “no prince of Nkwen has ever been appointed to any top post in Cameroon.”

The team leader under of the 2013 Legislative and Municipal elections in Bamenda III on the CPDM ticket, Martin Ngante, recounted how from 2007 Legislative/Municipal elections they had 1,350 votes, at the last elections in 2013, their votes rose to 4,000. He said they have progressed from one subsection to 15 subsections and “with the Fon on our side, we shall turn full cycle.”

The highlight of the ceremony was when Senator Fon Teche Njie, accompanied by his colleagues, Fons, and the organizers, decorated the Fon with CPDM mufflers and handed to him a flame pot, a broom and a staff with party inscriptions on them.

In his acceptance speech, Fon Azehfor thanked the organisers for the initiative, saying when he was enthroned he declared the Nkwen Palace was for all political parties.

“Since then, the wind of change has been blowing towards me and it is effectively here, brought by the CPDM. That is why I must salute President Paul Biya for envisaged projects in Bamenda III. I am, today, identifying with a party for peace, development and progress which to me is the CPDM,” Fon Azehfor declared.

He paid tribute to Senator Fon Teche Njie, whom he described as his political godfather.

Appealing to Government to raise Nkwen fondom to a first class fondom, Fon Azehfor reminded the authorities-that-be not to forget the sacrifices made by one of the princes of Nkwen, John Ngu Foncha, for the country.

Politburo member, Regina Mundi, Cletus Anye Matoya Peter Abety, Ruth Ndonyi Alahji, Denis Gambo, Valentine Ndze and the Fons of Chumba, Bambui and Balikumbat and Ndzah, described the initiation of the Fon of Nkwen into CPDM as a big catch.
