First Deputy President of the Senate, His Majesty Aboubakari Abdoulaye won the bet on Sunday, February 28, 2016 to bring together about 100 000 militants and sympathizers of the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement (CPDM) and the National Alliance for Democracy and Progress (ANDP) for a big rally to support the candidacy of Paul Biya for the next presidential election.

"Since the 2011 presidential campaign, this is the first time I see so many activists gathered for a meeting. Even the celebration of the May 20th didn’t pull out such a population here in the North ", says an activist of the CPDM Benue Center I section. The meeting in Garoua was enhanced by the presence of many elites of the region especially the National President of WCPDM, Yaou Aissatou, and former Minister of Basic Education, Haman Adama.

For the Senate vice president, the date of February 28, 2016 will be remembered in the annals of the history of the Northern Region because in a burst of "active solidarity" the son and daughters of the region decided to "look in the same direction to contribute to the work of building a modern Cameroon, democratic and united.”

While welcoming the rallying activists of ANDP in favour of the candidacy of Paul Biya in the next presidential election, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the CPDM for the North, Aboubakari Abdoulaye, requested the CPDM National President to listen to the call of the people and "to accept these calls which are sincere" and coming from the base.
