Yosa cedes second spot to Coton Sport

Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda has relinquished its grip on second spot on the national elite One championship after a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Coton Sport of Garoua on Sunday March 23, in a day seven encounter, that saw Coton moved up to second spot on the log.

Before the game, Yosa had been on a three-win streak, winning two home games and one away game.

Yosa’s fine run of results was stopped at the 21st minute of the game following an in-root from the left flank by Captain Souleymanou Moussa who fed the onrushing Joseph Yanki Agbor, former player of Yosa who had displaced his marker to beat Nyokon Tonye for the first time in three games.

The second goal followed shortly after as the host continued to press, completely dominated possession. Centre forward Komboiss Njock was left unattended to when he pounced on a clearance by Tonye after he had saved from close range.

Yosa soon picked up as the scorching sun and heat reduced in intensity and had a goal ruled out for an unimaginable offside caught by the 2nd assistant referee, Mbida Awono.

The bringing in of Makolle in place of the sick Ojong Ekuri, and Ngwatong Gerard in place of Alex Tchangue in the second half by Kamgue Justin brought in life into the visitors and they seized possession of the midfield forcing Coton sport into committing several faults and picking up four bookings in the process.

Despite all the pressure, Yosa failed to make amends for their first half short comings and ended the match two goals and two places down.

The team’s next game is at home against Apejes of Mfou before an away trip to neighbours Bamboutous.
