On Sunday, August 23, 2015, during a classic match between Union de Douala and Canon de Yaoundé for the 31st day of League 1, the leaders of the Union Sportive de Douala paid tribute to Gustave Moundi Djengue, the now former captain who has gone to seek fortune in Iraq where he has just signed with the Electric club of Charaba.

Before the start of the match, a small ceremony was organised by Franck Happi and his collaborators, an opportunity for them to hand jerseys of the season to his wife, special guest, in the absence of the player.

Several supporters came to the unification stadium dressed in jerseys with the colours of the team, all having the number 13 of the player. On the eve, in a pre-match press conference, the PCA of the club, Franck Happi revealed that the player is no more with the club.

The ceremony was held to thank the great Defender for the services rendered to the team since 2008, year of his arrival. "We encourage longevity in the clubs," indicated the Green and white boss who did not hesitate to release the player for him to grab the chance in the Middle East.

Union also boasted of having prepared for the departure of Moundi so that no vacuum is created in the team. A similar ceremony had already been organized in 2012 for Jacques Nguemaleu, another former captain of the Nassara Gamakai when he signed in Thailand.

On the ground, things are going well for Kombi Mandjang (who now wears the captain band) and his teammates. The Nassara, who did not necessarily have things easy recorded a third victory in a row (13 matches without defeat) facing the Mekok Megonda, on the score of one goal to 0.

The only goal of the game was scored by Samuel Nlend in the 56th minute. A victory that allows them to continue in the 2nd place on the standings with 56 points, two points below Coton Sport de Garoua, leaders who also won at home against Astres de Douala (3-1). Union is followed by New Stars and Botafogo, two other clubs in Douala who have 53 points each.
