League II: AS Etoa-Meki fails to satisfy fans

Njiki Simplest’s boys failed to put smiles on the faces of their supporters and fans as they pulled a goalless draw against newly promoted side AS Belabo at the Omnisport Stadium in Yaoundé.

It was the match counting for the first day of play in League II in the 2014/2015 season. Both sides by 1:30pm went into the pitch to decide who takes the three points but at half time nothing positive came out.

The two teams made some efforts to take the lead but the men at the goal post made strategic saves as they came so closed in scoring.

In the second half, AS Belabo mounted pressure but did take the lead. Etoa-meki almost took the lead towards the later part of the game but wasted the opportunity as the central referee sounded his whistle for the end of the match.

According to the coach of Etoa-meki, the match was not a bad one, “we have played the first match of the season and it is not right for every thing is fine. We played with a good team from Belabo and I think we still have to work hard.

To Coach Ndzana Stephane of AS Belobo, the results were not what they wanted, “it is true that it is the start of the season but we needed to score. We need to appreciate the boys. They did their best”.

Both teams’ looks forward for the second day of play that is promising to produce fire-works when Belabo welcome As Matelot in Betoua and AS Etoa Meki make a useful trip to Nchang to challenge Aigle of Menoua.

In the second match of the day, it was a formidable Renaissance of Ngoumo that beat Dynamic of Buea to register their first victory in the 2014/2015 season.

Renaissance Captain Asambo’s goal from the penalty spot gave his team a good start of the season. The Dynamic boys tried level scores but failed short of glory as all opportunities went wild. Dynamic will play at home during the day two matches against Colombe of Ebolowa while Renaissance would confront Sable of Batia in Douala.
