French Sebastien Roques appointed new coach of Canon de Yaoundé

The French Sebastien Roques was named coach of Canon de Yaoundé (Ligue 1) by the Board of Directors of the legendary club of the Cameroonian capital, official sources told APA.

Coming from Union de Douala, another club of the elite, he replaces, Bertin Ebwele resigned last March and temporarily replaced by fitness trainer, Narcissus Tinkeu.

The arrival of the French coach occurs in a context marked by internal wrangling that oppose two rival camps, one held by the President of the Board, Céline Eko and the other, led by the “Council of Elders” which does not recognize any legitimacy to the current leaders.

Under renewable contract until December, Sébastien Roques, interviewed by APA, said his first objective was to preserve the Canon in D1.

The club revealed many famous players such as Thomas Nkono (1979 and 1982 ), Jean Manga Onguéné (1980) and Théophile Abega (1984), all of then won the African Golden Ball.
