Introducing FECAFOOT president hopefuls

Seven candidates have officially been approved by FECAFOOT committee as president of the association.

Among the seven candidates are Jules Frederic Nyongha, Brigitte Mebande and Atah Robert Behazah.

Jules Nyongha: The Coach

Jules Nyongha is a household name in football having had three spells at the helm of the national team and several elite clubs in Cameroon.

He stunned many by presenting his candidature for the presidency of Fecafoot in the aborted November 2014 elections. Though his candidacy was rejected for lack of endorsement from the required number of regional delegates, Jules Nyongha did not give up his dreams as he has again provided his candidature.

In order to increase his chances of redressing Cameroonian football, Jules Nyongha who has already been designated as the representative of coaches at the Fecafoot general assembly, announced he was allying with another candidate, Brigitte Mebande for the interest of football. He declared that they will be working to harmonise their programmes.

Brigitte Mebande: The Iron lady

When Honourable Brigitte Mebande first presented her candidature for the post of president of Fecafoot, many people did not take her seriously. However, when she reiterated her candidacy, it demonstrated it wasn’t a joke. Brigitte Mebande’s candidacy received the blessing of the now renowned Abdouraman Hamadou who declared that he shares the same vision with Honourable Mebande.

Mebande has the necessary credential to rule Fecafoot having been the president of Union Abongbang during the hay days of the club. She was vice president of Fecafoot under Iya Mohammed from 2005 to 2009 and reported withdrew because she no longer approved of her mentor’s management style. She has metamorphosed from the discrete candidate she was in November 2014 to a vocal critic of the established order at Fecafoot.

Atah Robert Behazah: The Iconoclast

In a typical dog bit master scenario, Robert Atah was the first to announce his intention to run for the post of president of Fecafoot against his boss and the incumbent, Iya Mohamed. With Iya out of the game, he pursued to challenge the secretary general and was the only challenger whose candidature was validated by the Normalisation Committee in February.

The third assistant National Technical Director hesitated presenting his candidature this time and the public only got news that he deposited his candidature through the communiqué signed by the president of the Normalisation committee of Fecafoot as opposed to the past when he made his intention known through a press conference.
