In 'A brief foray into French punctuations', Simon Mougnol reminds lovers of the essence of writing sentences with the appropriate English tools.

Imagine yourself in a classroom where a teacher writes four sentences on the board with inappropriate punctuations such as full stop, interrogation, exclamation and ellipsis.

The book by Simon Mougnol, a seasoned French teacher, entitled "A brief foray into French punctuation" launched on Tuesday May 26, in Yaoundé, offer readers of all ages the appropriate use of punctuation and other grammatical tips.

It equips teachers who have a duty to pass on accurate knowledge to students.

According to Simon Mougnol, punctuation marks are part of the syntax and the laws of French grammar.

From example, a comma is used to separate, isolate or highlight independent proposals; the author reviews the different uses.

It also teaches the right usage of semicolon, colon, an ellipsis, question mark, parentheses, quotation marks, hyphens, bar, hooks, Asterisk and others.

Besides punctuations, the 105 pages render lessons on writing skills and subject-verb agreement.

This book is an asset in the general revision of French. Perhaps it is for this reason that it was launched in a period of examinations. Students and even adults need to make good use of the book.
